What is Futsal?
Futsal is a fast paced, action packed, exciting game. Futsal has many similarities to soccer and can be played indoors or outdoors on a court. The game is played with 4 field players and 1 goalkeeper (5v5) on a court similar in size to a basketball court. The court is a hard surface similar to a basketball or tennis court.
While futsal has many similarities to soccer, there are some differences that make futsal unique. The futsal ball is smaller in size and made of materials that minimize the bounce of the ball. In addition to the ball there are some rules in the game of futsal that are unique to the game itself. Our goal is to teach players the rules of futsal, improve their ability in the game of futsal, and provide an experience focuses on development and fun!
With fewer players on the field, each player is given an opportunity for more touches. Studies have shown that players are 6 times more likely to touch the ball in futsal than 11v11 soccer. More touches on the ball allows for more learning and faster learning of the sport. In addition to more touches players are constantly transitioning from offense to defense and are provided more chances to attack and defend.
Futsal demands good ball control, quick decisions, and precise passes due to the tighter spaces and a smaller field. These skills translate very well to the soccer field and help improve players abilities on the futsal court and, in turn, improve players abilities on the soccer field.
