Program Overview
The U9-U12 program also known as, "Mod or Modified Soccer", is a developmental program for younger players ages 8-11 years old. The team rosters are smaller as well as the fields on which they play. The emphasis of the game is on skills development and increasing the number of touches on the ball through smaller sided games. Goalkeepers and referees are introduced at these ages. During registration, players are grouped by school as best as possible and are assigned a volunteer coach (normally a parent from the team).
When do I register?
Registration is now open!
What age group is my child in?
The Age Chart in the Documents & Forms menu will help you determine which age group your child should play with.
Volunteer Coaches
All of the teams are assigned a volunteer coach, who is typically a parent from the team. Parent coaches are not required to have prior experience. Coaches need to
have enthusiasm and a willingness to be at each session to help guide and teach their players. Coaches interested in educational courses or viewing practice session ideas (including videos), should
view the material presented in the Coaches menu.
Team Format
The General Play Guide in the
Documents & Forms menu provides an outline of team size and number of field players by age group.
For U9-U10 teams, max roster size is 12 players
For U11-U12 teams, max roster size is 14 players
Time Committment
Teams may start practicing in the first week of August. Games begin the first weekend after Labor Day and the league runs for 10 to 12 weeks, usually ending early to mid November.
Practices are held anytime between 4pm and 8pm, Monday through Thursday and last from 60 to 90 minutes. Field usage for practices is usually cut back in October due to daylight, weather and field conditions. The practice schedules are determined by the coach of your team. As your coach has volunteered his/her time to organize the team, they get to decide when and where the practices will be in order to accommodate their schedule. Please do not request to switch teams because the practice time the coach has chosen does not fit your schedule. If you are concerned about this, then we encourage you to volunteer to coach.
Game times are from 8am to 5pm on Saturdays or Sundays. Game times are determined randomly. The only exception to this is if a coach is in charge of multiple teams, or notifies us in advance that they have a work conflict we need to try and accommodate.
Uniform
ISC Gunners Provide shirts for all participants of the mod program as part of the registration fee.
